Ok, now if you read my last post, you know we are in a major flood. So my parents had been watching my sisters 2 girls. Dad calls me about noon yesterday and said mom was sick. Really bad stomach ache and vomiting. It was still pouring down rain and dad didn't think it was too big of a deal.
Dad calls back at 3 says mom is really bad and needs to go to the hospital. they still have the girls as my sister hasn't gotten home yet and things are so flooded, not sure if she could get to mom and dads house anyway.
So Ryan and i figure in the truck we can get there are we are half an hour closer than my sister. So we head that way. It took us 2 hours ( usually 15 minutes) to get to my parents house. Every other road we tried to go down was flooded and in passable. Or the road was just completely washed out.
We get tot the house just as the ambulance is leaving with mom to go to the hospital. We grab the girls and dad follows the ambulance. So we get all the kids (Dean and the girls back to our house and my sister meets us there. The guys keep the kids and my sister and i take off to the hospital. Again, half the roads are under water so it takes another hour for us to get there.
We finally get there and they say we cant park at the hospital cause the water is rising into the parking lot and the basement is already flooded. They are going to have to start evacuating! So we sit outside the hospital as they wont let anyone else inside and watch as the lifeline helicopters start landing about 50 ft from us to evacuate people out. We finally get to see mom for 2 minutes as they tell us they are going to airlift her to a different hospital and hour south because they are flooding and cant tell what is wrong with her but that they think it is either her appendix or kidney stones.
She gets to the other hospital and they determine she has acute appendicitis and needs surgery immediately. Thankfully her appendix had not ruptured( Dr. said she had about 12 hours). Surgery went well and she is resting. May get to come home today. Doctor will be in around noon to check her out and make the decision.
So now we just wait and see what the Dr says and then see if mom and dad can get back home with all the flooded roads.
