Most kids took some sort of cereal or mini marshmallows or something of the sort. The class then counted the items and made a giant snack mix that the kids were allowed to eat for a snack that day. They also counted out 100 play pennies and were then able to trade those in for items in their "store".
They also recently celebrated the Presidential inauguration. they were allowed to watch the main event on tv and talked about where the President lives and the job that he does. They colored pictures of the President, (Dean though Mr. Obama looked better with bright red lipstick and blue ears.) It will be a picture to put in the memory box to look at when he gets older. ) They also colored flags, and maps.
They are preparing for their jump rope for heart event.
"Jump Rope For Heart is a national educational fund-raising program that is sponsored by the American Heart Association and the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD).
Jump Rope For Heart engages elementary students in jumping rope while raising funds to support lifesaving heart and stroke research. Students ask friends and family for donations and receive thank-you gifts based on the dollars they raise. This educational program teaches physical fitness and promotes the value of community service to students and their families. It shows students that they can contribute to their community's welfare. "
