I spent yesterday canning tomatoes. I decided to can these straight up so they could be used for chili, soups or whatever we want tomatoes in this winter.
The tomatoes started out looking like this....
And now they look like this!
I have cucumbers that are going to be to be canned in the next couple days so I will be making pickles.
You are bringing back some wonderful memories of my mom and I can even "smell" the stuff she was canning. She canned and froze things every year from her garden. Lots of work but we loved it come January. HUGS, Karen
oh Elisha... We used to can like crazy. First year we lived here, Ron bought about 30 tomato plants and put them all in. Need I say more? And, we had a great summer that year for gardening (and depending on how you look at it, also a great summer for canning). Those tomatoes are going to taste so good in the comfort food you make in the middle of winter for your family. Hugs to you my ambitious friend. Sue

My tomatoes don't look that nice. :( Too much floating in the juice!
