Well, we finally have electricity again after losing it the past two nights from storms going thru the area.
Tuesday I had class. We were let out at 9 pm (an hour early) because the weather was getting bad. On my way home(about a 20 minute drive) the tornado sirens start going off. It was still light outside but the clouds were black.Raining so hard you could barely see to drive. It got nasty, and it got nasty fast! I was terrified I was going to get caught in something really bad.
Thats when they came across the radio and said a tornado had touched down in the tiny town next to where I live, about 8 minutes from my house. It is the town my sister lives in. I FINALLY get home, and Ryan and Dean are waiting on me. We have no power. Ryan wants to go to my moms so we head that way(opposite way of the storm).
The tornado thankfully missed my sisters house by 2 houses. Destroyed several neighbors homes but spared hers. It wiped out almost an entire little town on the other side of hers and did a ton of damage a couple towns past that as well. In total, there were about 8 injuries only 1 being serious.
So, we get up Wednesday morning at moms house and head home. We spent the day here at home (power was back on) and went and looked at some of the storm damage.
Dean was to stay the night at Nana's house so we took him back to moms and thought Ryan and i would have a nice night without kids. We got the the restaurant and the storms rolled in. We weather the storms in the restaurant and head home. We get home to find that once again our electricity is out and the winds had gotten so bad it broke our flag pole in half. Thankfully no cars were parked near it to fall on but still disheartening to see it just laying on the ground like that.
We have a generator so we were able to plug a fan in( was still hot and muggy) and the tv (so we knew what the weather was going to do).
Power came back on about 4 am this morning. I think we are good with the storms at least for today but looks like more are going to come in Friday and Saturday.
I shouldn't complain, We are extremely lucky. So many people lost their homes and all the important things in them.
Well. off to go get some laundry done while we have power and get b raced for the round coming in tomorrow night.
