Outdoor Work

Yesterday we spent the day pulling out an old fence row. The barbed wire fence had fell over some time ago(before we bought the house 2 years ago). It had so much stuff grown up over, under and through it that it made mowing that are next to impossible.
So yesterday we decided enough was enough, time to get rid of it. Now the fence runs along side of a field so we called the farmer and made sure it was ok with him and it was so we got the tractor out and started ripping the fence out of the ground. As we got the fence out, there was a lot of cutting down small trash trees and trimming up the big trees so the branches would not scrape against bigger vehicles going down the lane.
We now have a huge pile of limbs that need to be burnt so looks like we will be having a weenie roast this weekend.
After we had the fence pulled out and everything cleaned out of that area, we decided to bush hog it since everything was so tall. Get the bush hog hooked up, and started mowing. Well, didn't take long for the tractor tires to find the one fence post that had broken off about an inch out of the ground. Now tires and metal fence posts don't get along very well. so today we had to have someone come out and fix the giant hole in the tire and now we are out of a tractor for another day as we have to let it sit for at least 24 hours.
I still have another half the fence row to work on cleaning up. We will keep that section of fence as it is still in good shape and has a couple grape vines growing on it and sure don't want to get rid of those. So its just going to be trimming up good trees, getting rid of the trash trees and cleaning up all the other junk growing in and around the fence.
It makes such a difference doing this. It is a lot of hard manual labor but it is well worth it.
So far i haven't seen any poison ivy thankfully but I did get sun burnt yesterday. So need to remember the sunscreen next time.
