Looking Forward

As I sat yesterday evening watching it rain, and my yard turn from a muddy pile of dirt to an even muddier bowl of soup, I couldn’t help but think when will spring get here?

You see, our property is still in its beginning stages. The house was built 4 years ago but the original owners had to relocate after only a year and a half of living here and never had a chance to do any landscaping including even planting grass. We bought the house 2 years ago and are still without grass on most of the property. We have dug a pond and still landscaping to do around that, moved dirt from the pond to rest of the property to bring it up to grade for proper drainage, and planted trees around our property. We have finally gotten the ground ready for grass so we are anxiously waiting for spring to get here so we can plant grass seed. I have one flower bed planted right now at the front of our house by the front door but have plans to build several more throughout the property.

I have had a major case of cabin fever this year and just cannot wait to get out there and feel the dirt between my fingers. I want to plant grass, and flowers and my garden. I just love planting things and then watching them grow into beautiful, amazing creations.

So imagine how happy I was when I woke up this morning, walked out front and saw the my tulips and daffodils I had planted last year are popped out of the ground a couple inches. Still just small green stubs sticking out of the ground but I know what is coming and for me that is so exciting. Spring is on its way. The first day of spring is March 20th. That also just happens to be the same day my little boy was born almost 5 years ago. No wonder I love Spring so much.

Spring fever, I think we all have it...must be warmer there, my crocuses aren't up yet but I expect within the next day or 2 they will be.
